I am excited to announce this fall brings many new additions to the growing on-line resources available on http://www.angelocorriero.com/.
New features including an up-dated calendar of events, your healing stories, a new podcast entitled “Energy Healing” courtesy of Beat The System a CIUT University of Toronto radio program, opportunities to participate in research, and the “Support Blog”; an on-line forum discussing current and relevant topics related to Energy Medicine, Spiritual Psychotherapy, Medical Intuition, and Practitioner Support.
As many of you know I am still pursuing studies in Practical Nursing. Therefore only a limited number of private sessions are available.
Since the beginning of my personal search, research, and study in the field, I discovered early on in my journey the importance discernment plays in both the acquisition of self-knowledge and when seeking mentors, teachers, practitioners, and guides to help facilitate that development. As an advocate for consumer protection I want to share with you a recent excerpt of guidelines extrapolated from a seminal book on the subject of medical intuition. De-Mystifying Medical Intuition by Lori Wilson, M.S.W. founder of Inner Access 101, internationally renowned medical intuitive and best-selling author of a well-respected reference guide for practitioners and laypeople alike. The book discusses important subjects such as consumer protection, energy ethics, as well as the 5-basic styles of medical intuition in an easy to read format recommended by pioneers in the field including Dr. Norm Shealy. I have had the fortune of participating in Lori’s Total Body Intuition™ program. Much of what I continue to integrate into my current practice derives from her teachings.
Here are a few guidelines, I have found helpful:
- How long have you been practicing?
- Are you certified? If so, with whom? How long have they been in operation? Do they have a website so I may read more about your training?
- Have you been formally trained for this or have you developed your skills on your own?
- Do you use a consent form? If so, how do I fill it out prior to our work?
- Do you work with other health professionals? If so, how do you network with them regarding shared clients?
- Do you offer healing recommendations? If so, from where are these recommendations coming: my body, a guide, your expertise or training?
- Where are you getting the information from? What is your source of wisdom? (i.e. use the 5 basic styles as basic frame of reference for discussion: psychically, channeled by guide(s), healer’s hits, maps, attending style, or another style altogether?)
Join the current discussion on the subject of discernment and consumer protection on the Support Blog. The first 3 bloggers to join in the discussion will receive a FREE copy of De-Mystifying Medical Intuition by Lori Wilson, M.S.W. Please send me an email with your mailing address to redeem this offer.

An extremely fascinating book on discernment and muscle testing is called "Power vs Force" by David Hawkins. Choices we make either make us go strong or weak.
As in any service that you are considering using, buyer be aware is always a good place to start. In the case of finding a practitioner to aid us on our healing journey, keeping our awareness alive cannot be more important. We cannot make assumptions, either out of need or desperation; we must be willing to know ourselves well enough to be able to say to ourselves, "this is not the best modality / practitioner for me, " and we need to know when to let it go.
The question then becomes how do we know? On my 22 year journey, much of it hampered by what I could afford which in then end aided my need to discriminate, I have been lucky (aware?) enough to go with my gut. Sometimes this is easy, and I know as soon as I meet the person that this will not be the best for me. Sometimes I go through an appointment and find at the end that the money was well spent only in terms of ruling something or some one out. I have never gone back to a treatment process when I didn't feel some kind of improvement, of either insight or symptoms.
In essence I am speaking of making use of our innate intuitive capabilities. The nudge in our guts, the little voice, or sometimes loud voice, in our heads can often be our best advisers.
Key to all of this is staying open to all opportunities that come by. If a new way of approaching my healing comes to me, and it tweaks my interest and I find myself with returning thoughts of it, I check it out. If I am told twice about some one or a new modality from two separate sources I know I must give to it my attention.
Our best protection is ourselves. We need to honour our vulnerabilities, which we are seeking healing and we need to pay attention to our own signals.
Which leads me to ask, what signals you that you are in alignment with your healing journey?
Discernment is imperative with all types of healing, not only energy and spiritual work. Once work has been completed, it cannot be undone so paying attention to any "red flags" such as a feeling of discomfort signaling the healer is not the right person for you at this stage in your journey is important. If one is not centred which may happen in times of crisis or if one feels particularly desperate to get well, it may be helpful to discuss misgivings with a trusted friend or advisor. Equally as important is remaining open to new healing experiences and not closing doors prematurely which may have the potential to facilitate healing, by confusing a hesitation to change with an intuitive voice. Most people know deep within their "gut" whether a healer or form of healing is a good match for them.
